So everyone loves free stuff, right? Taking a day to hang out somewhere besides your house doesn't have to mean emptying your pockets--well, at least not for this festival. The Uptown community is celebrating its second All About Uptown Festival: A Celebration of Art and Living. Attendees can enjoy music, pet stations, tours and, of course, food all day long. Local bands--including Beatles cover band Hard Night's Day, Scott Whitaker and Grammy-Award winning Brave Combo--will play at the festival's main stage throughout the day. Food and beverages brought in from Chipotle, Dream Cafe, Genghis Grill, Sambuca, The Ginger Man, and Uptown Bar and Grill will be available for purchase on the festival grounds. Pets are invited to join their owners at the festival, and kids are invited to the Kids Korner for face-painting and crafts from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fairmount Street from McKinney Avenue to Howell Street. Free parking will be available at the Crescent Real Estate Tower, and admission is free for all. For additional information call 214-871-7696 or visit allaboutuptown.com.
Sat., Sept. 26, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., 2009
