There are some movie match-ups that transcend the screen and enter our everlasting consciousness. Spencer Tracy and Sidney Poitier, Paul Newman and Robert Redford, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. In the 2003 flick Cheaper by the Dozen, Steve Martin and Ashton Kutcher appear together for the first time. And while this tandem will not be considered along with the aforementioned pairs, it did manage to severely punch me in the nads for two hours. So I'm hesitant to endorse the Richardson Theatre Centre's dramatization of Frank Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey's book of the same name. The press release touting the performance, however, breathed nary a word about the movie, instead heralding the Gilbreths' book. If you want to give it a try this Friday, the curtain rises at 8 p.m., and tickets run $18 to $20. Call the theater--located at 2701 N. Custer Parkway--at 972-699-1130 for more information.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: July 11. Continues through Aug. 2, 2008
