On a recent episode of Top Chef, the elimination challenge was to create a dish based on the chef's favorite film. Somebody picked Good Morning, Vietnam and made a Vietnamese spring roll (lame), and the winning team did Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (with a fizzy lifting drink and all!)...

On a recent episode of Top Chef, the elimination challenge was to create a dish based on the chef's favorite film. Somebody picked Good Morning, Vietnam and made a Vietnamese spring roll (lame), and the winning team did Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (with a fizzy lifting drink and all!). Too bad the episode was filmed a long time ago, before the movie Caramel (Sukkar banat) was released, 'cause it woulda been perfect. The chefs could make roasted nectarines with caramel sauce or caramel apple pork chops…or leg wax. Caramel tells the story of five Lebanese women in Beirut who meet at a beauty salon to talk about life and love. The title comes from, you guessed it, the caramel they use to make a leg wax. If you haven't already, you can see the film this weekend at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., as part of the Magnolia at the Modern series. Showtimes are 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8.50 or $6.50 for Modern members.
