I have mixed feelings about how effective Dancing Through Time is as the title of the newest Collin County Ballet Theatre performance. At first, it seems exciting, because you picture ballerinas doing the Charleston, then swing dancing, then disco dancing, etc. That would be one hip ballet! But then you think, wait, if you're dancing, aren't you always dancing through time? How can you not dance through time? Does time sometimes stand still when you dance? It just doesn't quite add up. Of course, it turns out there's a perfectly reasonable explanation: The theme of the show is "a blend of classic and new," which means it includes a dance from Act III of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, as well as a "fun and stylish" jazz ballet. So, yeah, I guess that makes sense. See the show at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 to $25 (or $12 for students) and can be purchased at 972-744-4650 or eisemanncenter.com. For more information, call 972-747-0600.
