When Kermit the Frog sang, "It's not easy being green," he obviously wasn't talking about being a transplant in Dallas. Every hockey season since 1995 (except for the sadness that was last year's lockout), I've found myself swimming in a sea of green while staying true to the red and blue. Year in and year out, the Dallas Stars/Colorado Avalanche rivalry has been a staple around here and not just on the ice. Yes, future enemies of mine, I am proud to be a fan of the almighty Colorado Avalanche. Words like these have hurt me in the workplace, strained friendships and won (and unfortunately lost) me several wagers. Happily, though, I say these things because I never had to defend a crybaby goalie who wanted to quit because his teammates were mean to him (fly away, little Eagle), and I refused to tone down my love of Joe Sakic just because it made a nearby Stars star uncomfortable. The line has been drawn and, though we've swapped a few key players, it's time to do battle once again. Join me as the Avs beat the Stars at 7 p.m. Saturday at the American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave. Tickets start at $36. Call 214-GO-STARS or visit dallasstars.com.
Sat., March 4, 7 p.m.
