Driving the High Five every day, it's hard to imagine the awesomeness that is modern architecture in your rearview mirror. For such an established metropolis, we haven't been proud of a feat of architecture since Reunion Tower or the Meyerson. Tadao Ando made his mark in Fort Worth a few years ago, but what about Dallas? We don't have a curvy Guggenheim like Bilbao, and we've only seen the Experience Music Project in pictures. We want an inspired Frank Gehry building in our city, but maybe we're just not ready for it yet. However, we will be getting the man himself, if only for one night. Gehry will be speaking as part of the Tate Lecture Series at Southern Methodist University on Tuesday. Maybe with a little wining and dining we could convince him to make over the Trinity his own way. Tickets start at $40. The lecture begins at 8 p.m. in SMU's McFarlin Auditorium, 6405 Boaz Lane. Call 214-763-8283.
