What do you get when you combine a man who is "the sleepiest, dullest, most British Britisher" with a woman who is "lavishly gifted with beauty and talent"? Oh, and don't forget to add the perils of a seething, bloody French Revolution. Of course it would be the drama-filled tale of the almost-failed marriage between Lady Marguerite and Sir Percy of The Scarlet Pimpernel. A beautiful wife pretty much bored with her predictable other half lusts after the heroic yet elusive Scarlet Pimpernel who spends his time rescuing rich French Royalists from meeting Madame La Guillotine. At least her heart's desire is closer to her than, let's say, Batman is to me. The Artisan Center Theater presents The Scarlet Pimpernel, based on the original novel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy.
