Hey, nerds! Put on your capes and charge up your light sabers—it's book-signing time. Aaron Allston will be on hand at area Borders stores to discuss and sign the first of a new nine-book series in the ever-continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars Legacy of the Force: Betrayal. For fans of the movies, these sci-fi serials can be a welcome epilogue to the story lines of characters you've known so well for so long. Of course there are those of you whose love for Star Wars has changed in the past decade, watching as George Lucas turned your childhood heroes into lifeless jerks, whose only real danger was in boring someone to death. Watching the new trilogy of movies, you may feel, as comedian Brian Posehn described, as if a favorite uncle has attempted to mouth-rape you (I'm paraphrasing). Perhaps this book can breathe life into the characters you were once so fond of. Last one there is frozen in carbonite! Allston discusses and signs copies of his book, Star Wars Legacy of the Force: Betrayal, 2 p.m. at Borders in Plano, 1601 Preston Road, and 7 p.m. at Borders in Fort Worth, 4601 W. Freeway. Admission is free. Call 972-713-9857 (Plano) or 817-737-0444 (Fort Worth).
Sat., June 24, 7 p.m.
