KNON-FM is community-supported radio that's as diverse as the community that supports it. They dabble in so many different formats—from death metal to Baptist gospel—that each genre seems to require its own community fund-raiser. In June, the station's Latin Energy Festival drew a sweltering crowd of about 9,000 people. And next week they'll have a rockabilly benefit at Sons of Hermann Hall. Blues and R&B devotees can give to the cause this Friday at R.L.'s Blues Palace II, at a concert so huge it had to be held at a sequel. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bobby "Blue" Bland tops a notable bill with Edwin Holt, Chester Burns, Hal Harris and the Low Lifers, and R.L. Griffin himself. KNON presents Bobby "Blue" Bland on Friday at R.L.'s Blues Palace II, 3100 Grand Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. Advance tickets cost $30; tickets at the door are $35. Call 214-237-3003 or visit knon.org for tickets and information.
Fri., Oct. 27, 7 p.m.
