Bees and black holes. Sounds like a bad summer vacation, but the WaterTower Theatre "shows us the honey" in Charlotte Jones' award-winning British play Humble Boy. In her "Hamlet Light," dysfunctional family ties tangle in the string theory following the death of astrophysicist Felix Humble's bee-keeping father. This smart comedy debuted in London in 2001 (with the fabulous Avenger Diana Rigg playing mother Flora) to rave reviews, heading on to the Big Apple, where it became a piece of sweet apple poignance. Emotionally bumbling scientist Felix learns that love and human relationships are more complex, but just as rewarding to navigate, as the particles viewed through his telescope. Thankfully Ms. Jones dishes out heady math and science on simple paper plates for our common digestive systems to enjoy—with gusto—and circling bees add a truthful sting of sweetness to the mix. Shows run Thursday through February 11 at the Addison Theatre Centre, 15650 Addison Road. Tickets are $20 to $30. Call 972-450-6232 or visit watertowertheatre.org.
