Some stand-up comedians seem custom-made for crossover sitcom stardom (see: Cosby, Seinfeld or Bernie Mac), while others probably should have stuck to playing nightclub open-mike nights in between shifts at the video store. Earthquake's sitcom pilot for ABC may have flopped a few years back, but the man is back on track with a recurring role as the titular character's uncle in Everybody Hates Chris. But dude deserves his own show, 'cause dude is straight funny. Even if you're not keen on his particular brand of observational humor delivered with the panache, not to mention the shiny wardrobe of a Southern Baptist preacher, there's no denying the intrinsic hilarity of a big fat guy gingerly mopping his sweaty brow with a silk handkerchief. This weekend Earthquake shakes the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road. Performances are at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $22 on Friday; Saturday and Sunday will cost ya an even $20. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improvclubs.com.
