Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson was a Renaissance fair enthusiast, a television actor, a radio personality, a musician, a bouncer, a personal bodyguard and the head of security for the band Damageplan. It was the security gig that led him to the fateful night when he, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and two others were killed in a December 8, 2004, club shooting. "A Night of 'Mayhem' in Dallas: Benefit Concert and Book Signing," remembers the man and the tragedy. It will feature music by six bands, special guests including Officer James Niggemeyer, the first responding police officer who shot and killed the attacker, and author and photographer Chris A., who will sign his book, A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa. 7 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Parkway.
