Before Adam and Barbara Maitland died, they probably never did Halloween right. But hell, after death, in trying to scare the Deetz family out of their newly decorated home, the two ghosts come up with some ingenious costumes and scare tactics. When they finally come out from under Delia Deetz's bedsheets, their skin-beaks and finger-eyeballs unfortunately go completely unnoticed--that is, except by the sole seer, creepy child Lydia Deetz. This Halloween, rather than gory horror or gruesome slasher marathons, Central 214 Sunset Movie Series invites you to laugh till you die with a frighteningly fun comedy horror on the courtyard patio. Every Sunday this month, Central 214 at Hotel Palomar, 5680 North Central Expressway, opened the patio for free screenings of horror classics: Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Young Frankenstein and Hocus Pocus. On Halloween, enjoy deals on drinks and the late-night menu as you hang out by the new outdoor fireplace for Beetlejuice. Gather up a Juno, Harry the Head Hunter, Lydia and a Betelgeuse, and enjoy the film. The screening starts at 8:30 p.m., so you'll be out in time to stir up some scares. Admission is free, but come early for the best seats. No outside food or drinks. For more information, visit central214.com.
