If we were to write a fantasy novel about winning the chance to inherit a magical food manufacturing facility, it would probably be called Charlie and the Smoked Brisket Factory, or better yet, Charlie and the Beer Factory. So it's probably best that Roald Dahl had the idea first with his timeless Chocolate Factory tale, as chocolate and candy are just about universally beloved while our book ideas would probably only take off in Texas. Artie's Playhouse is bringing the story to life with Willy Wonka, Junior, directed by 14-year-old Stephanie Campbell, which runs through October 1 at Artisan Center Theater, 420 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst. Performances are 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays, and all tickets are $5. Call 817-284-1200 or visit artisanct.com.
Tuesdays, Saturdays, 10 a.m. Starts: Aug. 6. Continues through Oct. 1, 2011
