Dallas has seen more than its share of conventions this year, with something for almost every geeky interest there is. For the literary nerd who scoffs at A-Kon and those other low-brow affairs, there is FenCon, which will be in Dallas Friday through Sunday. FenCon caters to the fans (or fens in this case) of Science Fiction and Fantasy literature with a little filk music thrown in for good measure. For those who have not enjoyed a good filking, think fusion of traditional folk music and all topics fantasy or sci-fi. This year’s guests include Hugo Award-winning author C.J. Cherryh, Eisner Award-winning author Peter David and astronaut Stanley G. Love. FenCon will be held at The Crowne Plaza North Dallas (14315 Midway Road). Weekend tickets start at $45.
