Carry Me Back, Old Crow Medicine Show's comeback record after a yearlong hiatus, is also a return to the raw, freewheeling style of their early days. The former New York City subway buskers are at their best when they're telling a story that may bear the sound of the old days, yet feels relevant today. "Levi," from the new album, is a prime example of such a feat. A stomping, folksy jam that details the death of a soldier killed in action in the Middle East, it's as touching as it is begging for a knee-slapping sing-along. Nashville singer-songwriter Chuck Mead opens.
