Technology. Innovation. Dudes with jobs. You’ll find them all at re:THINK, the 2012 installment of TEDxSMU, a day-long symposium happening on Saturday at the new City Performance Hall (2520 Flora St.). Now in its fourth year, the event combines the best varieties of geekly fascinations. There are lectures and panels by prominent do-gooders, like artist/professor/life coach Willie Baronet, who buys signs from the homeless and reappropriates them for the gallery. Underwater explorer David Gallo gives life from the frontlines of technology and oceanography, detailing for us boring land dwellers the magnificence of those beings located many miles below the surface. You’ll meet playwrights, crowd-sourcers and smart folks who generally enjoy tinkering with things. If you can’t swing a ticket (they cost $150), go ahead and watch the whole day’s content for free online; re:THINK streams live on the website tedxsmu.org beginning at 9 a.m.
