Now that the Dallas Museum of Art is free to the public, it’s going to have to bring the awesome if it wants people to pay for special exhibitions. Rising to the challenge, the DMA (1717 North Harwood St.) has joined forces with Musée La Piscine to bring Chagall: Beyond Color to local audiences in its only stateside display. The work of Marc Chagall is recognizable to art lovers and non-art enthusiasts alike, so this exhibition, featuring more than 140 works, including paintings, sketches, ceramics, collages and sculptures, will be quite a draw, and standing center stage will be a special collection of costumes that Chagall designed for the ballet Aleko. If you want to be one of the first to see the exhibition, head to the DMA at 2 p.m. Sunday for an opening day tour with curator Olivier Meslay. The exhibition runs through May 26. Admission to the exhibition is $12 to $16. Call 214-922-1803 or visit dma.org.
