Now in its sixth year, Thin Line Film Festival returns to Denton’s time-trapped downtown square to bring you all things ’ocumentary. Kicking off Friday’s action is a Sundance selection called Blood Brother that will likely shatter your heart as it rocks it gently back and forth. American Rocky Braat refuses to live a life that falls easily in place — so he ventures out on a journey to India. That’s where he finds them, the fragile, lively and highly temporary occupants of an orphanage filled with HIV-positive children. Braat, who starts off not caring much for kids in general, winds up learning the emotional polarity of absolute living and loving. Thin Line runs through the 18th, and you’ll find everything from mockumentaries to animated documentaries to one total red herring that’s a false documentary disguised as an authentic one. Just camp out near that time capsule they uncovered on the square and see it all. Student passes are set at $6 and tickets are $8 for general admission; you can also snag all-access passes for $140 and full weekend passes (Friday through Sunday) for $50. Panels are free to attend.
