It’s Dallas’ biggest fashion show, and for 2013 The Pin Show’s organizers decided to whip a stitch in reverse and stage the event in a West Dallas warehouse. So while last year’s Pin brought dripping chandeliers and luxe lobbies, this installment becomes even more interesting with a stripped-down, deconstructed focus. There will be two bars staged in firetrucks, and one will actually be parked inside the warehouse (I might need hosed down by a professional). Of the 22 artists selected for this year’s talent pool, 21 of them are Texas-rooted, so you’ll support the work that’s happening in our own caliche. In effort to take it even further, the crew has secured the mercifully sensual sounds of the Danny Church Band to serenade models with a live, soulful backbeat as they hoof it down the concrete runway. We might be lucky if any of their, or our own, clothes stay on. (Those guys bring the sexytime jams, you feel me?) There’s a reason why the Observer gave the Pin Show Best Fashion Show in 2012 — they know what they’re doing and they aren’t afraid to have fun with it. Join this not-to-be-missed evening. Tickets range from $15 to $400 and Cafe Momentum gets the beneficiary kickback. Doors are at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the first girl goes down the runway at 8.
