Our favorite artist with an inscrutable last name is one of the hardest-working guys in the Texas art world. Stephen Lapthisophon is a professor at the University of Texas at Arlington and University of Texas at Dallas, had multiple shows this summer, including one in Los Angeles, and he showed up in the Dallas Observer’s 2013 People Issue. Still unimpressed? Fine. He’s got a solo exhibition coming to the Dallas Museum of Art in October. Before that, you can catch him and hear him in person at 2 p.m. Thursday. Lapthisophon is giving an artist talk at Richland College, 12800 Abrams Road, at Sabine Hall about his installation, Self Destruction. The exhibition has been on display since last month and closes Friday, so this is your last chance to check it out. Lapthisophon is a multimedia artist and he uses a wide and weird array of material. Call 972-238-6100 for more information.
