Whether you follow football or not is pretty inconsequential when the Big Game rolls around. The Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) gets less nerdy for a day, opening its arthouse doors for football fans. There’s complimentary admission, drink specials, a big-screen viewing bash and a chillax vibe that’s 100 percent free of Axe Body Spray. I don’t know what the prizes are, but let’s assume they’re fantastic. Added bonus: They’ve got a great beer selection and a portion of ticket sales go to the kids of Dallas and Fort Worth Can. The Granada Theater (3524 Greenville Ave.) always brings folks together for The Giant Football Game Whose Name We Legally Cannot Mention, and it’s doing it again this year. Repping a no-cover and RSVP-free policy, the East Dallas concert venue strips away the pretenses. Balance out your beer intake with $1 pizza and $1 brisket sliders all night, and send a friend in early to hold your seats. (It’s first-come, first-sit.) Doors open two hours before kickoff.
