It's impossible to accurately describe an Eddie Izzard show. Intellectually dazzling, multi-lingual stream of consciousness? Well, yeah, it's that, but way, way more fun than that sounds. He dives into history, religion, culture, nature and language – but with silly voices and physical comedy that can leave a crowded hall laughing over jokes about the imperialism. Pythonesque is a word commonly tossed Izzard's way, and that's pretty close to describing a man who famously said the reason the church of England never pulled off a good Inquisition was, basically, the English are too polite. “Cake or death?” just doesn't make a good threat. But Pythonesque doesn't capture Izzard's gentle, amusing charm. Really, you just have to see him for yourself. Catch the beloved British comedian, actor and possible future candidate for mayor of London when he brings his Force Majeure tour to the Majestic Theater for three shows at 8 p.m. June 24-26.
