Roll N Go (6110 Greenville Ave.) is not a sushi roll restaurant. It is not a rent-by-the-hour hotel. It is a spring roll and egg roll and Vietnamese fast foodstaurant. Created by the same people who brought you Bistro B, the crazy amazing (and by that, I mean Britney-headphones-on-the-servers-and-rolling-dirty-dish-carts-in-the-dining-room crazy and delicious amazing) Vietnamese restaurant near Garland, Roll N Go has promise as a cheap lunch spot.

The menu at Roll N Go is physically about the size of one of those big-ass birthday cards they sell at the grocery store that are as tall as your stupid kids, and it has a ton of items on it. From what I can tell, Roll N Go offers 143 menu items. Most are around $7. You can get three banh mi sandwiches for $10. You can get three pork egg rolls for $2.99. The most expensive item I could find on the menu is $11.99, and that's three roasted quails.
I walked in at 3:45 p.m. on a Sunday expecting a complete zombie wasteland of restaurant deadness; 3:45 p.m. is nobody's lunch or dinner rush. But the tiny restaurant was packed. Sure, there are only 10 or so bar-style seats smashed up against the windows, but there were asses in every one of them, plus a line for to-go orders.
I think it might have something to do with the most generous cashier I have ever seen. She gave a kid a free piggy bank filled with candy. She gave the person in front of me a giant free dessert. She gave the next person a big-as-my-face bag of candy. And I got a free 2-liter bottle of Pepsi. She didn't just give the stuff away -- she seemed to have a system. I got the 2-liter "because [my] to-go order was over $20." The kid got the piggy bank probably because he looked super pissed about all the rice paper he was about to be forced to ingest.
I ordered the grilled beef, shrimp and egg roll vermicelli bowl for $7.99. The shrimp were delicious, the egg roll was great, but the beef was tough, and the bones were hard to eat around. I also had the grilled salmon spring rolls, which were a steep $5.99 for three huge rolls. Absolutely go here when you feel like spring rolls. They have 14 types, ranging from lemongrass roll to vegetable roll to "fresh spring roll."
As usual, follow this simple rule for cheap restaurants and you'll stay happy: When you go to a burger restaurant, order the burger. When you go to the strip club, order the strippers. And if you go to Roll N Go, stick to the rolls and you'll be set.
