Only yesterday, it seems, did Trader Joe's appear in the Greenville skyline, bringing with it the promise of a grocery experience unlike anything else in Dallas. But Trader Joe's has shown that like all grocery stores, it's prone to disease and the occasional recall.

The California-based Glass Onion Catering is recalling over 180,00 pounds of ready-to-eat salads and sandwiches in 10 states, according to the FDA. All of these products include fully cooked chicken or ham and may be contaminated with E. Coli o157:H7. According to the FDA, this strain of E. Coli is potentially deadly and causes stomach cramps, dehydration and bloody diarrhea (two words already terrible by themselves). Symptoms can appear between two and eight days after exposure. The FDA along with the CDC and state authorities have linked 26 patients in three states to this particular strain.

The FDA has labelled this a Class I recall , defined as a "health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

Aetherstone Foods, connected to Glass Onion, is also recalling various vegetarian items in California stores. Glass Onion distributes food through Trader Joe's, Super Fresh Foods and Delish. Texas is one of ten states subject to that recall. Among the Trader Joe's items being recalled are Trader Jose's Mexicali Salad with Chili Lime Chicken and Trader Joe's Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken. A full list of products can be found at the FDA's site here and here. If you have any of the products listed you can return them for a refund or throw them in the garbage, or bury it at a crossroads with a stake driven through the center.
