Promoting Parade of Flesh's annual, all-day, post-SXSW affair, Bro Fest,
which this year takes place on Sunday, March 20, at Club Dada, this
poster takes what could have been a complicated promotional effort --
there are, after all, over 20 bands on this two-stage bill -- and pares
it does to a rather simple design that focuses on the illustration
rather than all the bands scheduled to perform.
And good thing, too: Bro Fest isn't just about one performer;
Parade of Flesh has done a great job of booking the event this year, and
none of the acts necessarily stand out more than the other. So it makes
sense, then, that the overarching image here is that of a masked lucha
libre fighter. Because, duh, if Nacho Libre taught us anything, it's that wresting is about bros. And sometimes wearing stretchy pants in your room just for fun.
Quite cleverly, the bands and pertinent show information do appear
in this design, dropped onto the illustration of the wrestler's cape.
And it's done so smartly, written in the block fonts and
distinct line breaks so prevalent in traditional wrestling show posters.
Think your poster is better? Want to see one of your designs get honored
next week? Drop us an e-mail
with an image promoting an upcoming show right here. Oh, and, when possible, be sure to do so at least a week in advance of the show. Thanks!
