Ryan Cabrera is a dude who was born in the Dallas area who used to date Ashlee Simpson and got signed to her father Joe Simpson's management company and made something of a blip on the national pop culture radar in 2004, when his song "On The Way Down" started blowing up Total Request Live -- so much so that MTV even gave him a dating game show called Score at one point.
Then he kind of disappeared, only to pop back up, again on MTV, as the love interest of one Audrina Patridge on the "reality" show The Hills, conveniently right in the wake of his 2008 album, The Moon Under Water, which was released on Ashlee and Jessica Simpson's dad's record label, Papa Joe Records.
And, now, he's "back!" again, or so a press release from the singer's publicity team proclaims, despite the fact that there's nothing to report on that front, except that Cabrera is working on a new disc, which may or may not be released at some point in the future, possibly in the fall. You can read that whole thing, which also calls Cabrera a "tastemaker," after the jump, where we've posted it in its entirety, just in case reading items about the big-name producers being paid to work on the new album is your kind of thing.
Honestly, we wouldn't normally waste your time with this sort of thing, except that, in the very first paragraph of the release, Cabrera is proclaimed to be "headlining" the Bamboozle Festival that will be held in New Jersey at the end of the month. Something tells us that Lil Wayne, Gaslight Anthem, 30 Seconds to Mars, Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, Dashboard Confessional, LMFAO, New Found Glory, Tokyo Police Club, Waka Flocka Flame and even Dallas' Own Forever The Sickest Kids might argue with that distinction, especially considering that Cabrera's name doesn't even show until the 29th line of the lineup bill, which, OK, is listed in alphabetical order after the real big names are rattled off -- but who is to argue that his stock would really improve all that greatly if this weren't the case? Not us.

Rocker is releasing new album this Fall and hitting the road this summer
New York, NY - (April 12, 2011) - You may remember him best for his string of hits including "On The Way Down," "True," and "40 Kinds of Sadness," but Ryan Cabrera is back fresh on the scene - in a big way. Set to headline this Summer's Bamboozle Fest and play a few one-off dates, Ryan will devote much of the coming months to his new album, due out in late Fall.
After having spent most of last year touring Asia and Europe and coming off his appearances on The Hills with then-girlfriend Audrina Patridge, Ryan is ready for some true studio time back home in L.A., writing and recording his newest venture.
Joining him in collaboration is a slew of industry heavy hitters, including Sabelle Breer and Curt Frasca (Butch Walker, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Mariah Carey) who, in conjunction with Ryan, were responsible for mega hit "On The Way Down." Also on board is Sacha Skarbek (Adele, Sir Paul McCartney, Duffy, Jon Bon Jovi, James Blunt, Amanda Ghost), Dallas Austin (Pink, Gwen Stefani, Madonna), Printz Board (founding member of Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, John Legend) and Jimmy Messer (Kelly Clarkson's "Never Again," Neon Trees, Kanye West).
