The local mall punk scene? Not in danger of dying, folks. Not any time soon, at least.
Look no further than Dallas' own Disco Curtis for the proof. The band just released the above video for its song "Ashley," and, for a brief moment on Saturday afternoon, it was the most-watched video on MySpace, believe it or not. (It's no longer in the top 10, but, hey, fellow DFW product Selena Gomez's video for "Naturally" still is.)
Anyway, the band, who, along with fellow area mall punkers Artist Vs. Poet and The Hit, will open for scene kings Forever The Sickest Kids at The Door Fort Worth on the band's January 22 tour kickoff show, just put out a new EP called Play With Fire Get Burned, which was released in a joint venture by MySpace Music and Interscope Records. For what it's worth, MTV is already offering its approval, terming the band "buzzworthy" and saying that it sounds like a new age Rick Springfield or even The Outfield. OK, then!
