Thursday, November 1, at Granada Theater
Before the group hits Fun Fun Fun Fest, Dallas gets its own intimate show. It will be cool to see what
John Lydon does best: walk around the stage in clown pajamas.
Ben Nichols, Mike Herrera
Tuesday, September 11, at The Loft, $12/$15
It
looks like Spune Productions is clearing some dust off The
Loft, which hasn't had a show in months. This first show back is billed
as the Bikeriders Southern Ride, featuring Lucero's Ben Nichols and Mike Herrera of MXPX.
2 Chainz
Tuesday, September 25, at House of Blues, $26
According
to Twitter and DC9, the most impressive thing about 2 Chainz's performance
opening for Nicki Minaj over the weekend was his exit strategy: leaving the stage on a Segway. Minutes later, it seems, his next Dallas
appearance was announced.
Melissa Etheridge
Saturday, October 13, at Majestic Theatre, $57.50-$102.50
Please, Dallas Morning News, send Thor Christensen to review this show.
Matt & Kim
Sunday, October 21, at House of Blues, $20
New York positive punks (with a penchant for walking around Times Square in the nude) Matt & Kim will return to House of Blues on the strength of their forthcoming album, Lightning.
Why?
Friday, November 2, at Sons of Hermann Hall, $12/$15
This
is one of the lesser known intersections between hip-hop and rock. Yoni
Wolf's super cerebral rhymes churn over beautifully produced lo-fi
arrangements. There's not a bad album in the band's collection of four,
and that's not including Wolf's brilliant work on the 2003 record Hymie's Basement.
Primus
Monday, November 5, at McFarlin Auditorium, $34.50-$44.50
According to Les Claypool, via Billboard,
this won't just be any Primus tour. Fans will be given 3-D glasses when
they walk in McFarlin Auditorium. The band will play in front of a
screen, which will have 3-D images playing throughout the show. There
will also be a surround sound system set up.
The Sea and Cake
Thursday, November 15, at Trees, $13/$16
For
almost 20 years, Chicago's The Sea and Cake have been blending jazz and
rock. Trees seems like the perfect venue for this show, as it's the
place the band would have been most likely to play during their heyday.
The Polyphonic Spree's Holiday Extravaganza
Saturday, December 22, at Lakewood Theater, $35
The
Polyphonic Spree's 10th annual Holiday Extravaganza will take place at
Lakewood Theater on Saturday, December 22. The show will happen in
tandem with the release of the band's first-ever Christmas album.
