There are loads of great shows this weekend, but probably the most notable is the Cystic Fibrosis benefit concert at Granada Theater on Saturday night. For the fifth year in a row, Rhett Miller will be headlining, this time with the help of Sarah Jaffe and The O's.
If helping people in need isn't big on your list (I kid), then there are plenty of other weekend options for you. Let's start with the ones we've already mentioned this week.
Tonight, at the Kessler Theater, Texas Country Music Hall of Famer Billy Joe Shaver will perform and Naptime Shake will open, and up in Denton, Dirt Nasty, Riff Raff and Weekend Hustler will be at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios. Also, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will be at the Granada Theater, and Rasputina, Wilderness of Manitoba and Bravo Max! will be at the Prophet Bar.
On Saturday, A.A. Bondy will bring his much lauded live show to Prophet Bar, and Little Black Dress will be releasing their cover of the Beach Boys' "Don't Worry Baby" on vinyl. Also, at the Palladium Ballroom, Five Finger Death Punch will perform, and Austin's The Octopus Project will be at the Kessler.
And on Sunday, Play-N-Skills will be over at Rio Room, per usual.

Missile, Diamond Age, Blackstone Rangers
Friday, November 11, at El Sibil
It's Diamond Age's second show of three in Dallas this weekend. Last night they played at Bryan Street Tavern and on Saturday, they'll play at new venue Queen City Hall. Tonight's 11-11-11 party at El Sibil proves to be the most unique, as the multi-use space in North Oak Cliff is an art studio, movie studio and living space.

Regatta De Faux, The Mumbles

If you're kind of on the fence about buying ticket's to Sting's Back To Bass tour (biggest tour gimmick ever) maybe this show will push you one way or the other. Regatta De Faux is a local Police cover band, and if you can stomach an hour of Police covers, maybe you'll be ready to see Sting do what he does best: Slappin da bass, mon.

This show quickly brings me back to the days when I fully resonated with Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative." Throw in Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat and Ginuwine, and you've got yourself a solid bill of early '90s R&B. If only they could've booked Jodeci and Shai ...
Chameleons Vox, Black Swan Lane, Rescue Mission

While Chameleons aren't the most recognizable name in the U.K.'s new wave movement during the '80s, their music certainly belongs in the canon. Since their break up in 1987, the band has reformed and disbanded. Now, founding members Mark Burgess and John Lever have reunited, and Saturday's show at Trees promises to be heavy on back catalog material.
Petra
Saturday, November 12, at Majestic Theatre
Unfortunately for all you very old school Christian rockers, this show has been cancelled. I guess you can say Petra didn't really beat the system this time.
