That time of year is already upon us: Time for the suburban music festivals to announce their 2015 lineups. (Pinch us!) Granted, there are fewer for us to choose from this year thanks to the uncertain future of Suburbia Music Fest, which lost the support of LiveNation after its first installment. No such troubles afflict 102.1 FM KDGE's Edgefest, however, which announced its lineup early this morning.

The verdict? A predictable mix of Clear Channel-friendly alternative music (which still means something to some people) and safe indie acts from the mid-2000s. Which means Modest Mouse, Hozier and the Offspring among others.

Really, this feels like a beefed up version of the Summer Cut bill, which is apt given that Death Cab for Cutie headlined Summer Cut last summer and is also a part of today's Edgefest announcement. After all, KXT would've killed to have Hozier at Summer Cut, and that was way before that video of the ballet dancer went viral. Slightly more entertaining is the prospect of the Offspring who, believe it or not, are apparently still a band.

Don't let it be said that there isn't some variety here, either; there's a rapper in the mix as well, Yelawolf. (See! Diversity!) Plus Girl Talk is scheduled to make a "special appearance," which should be the closest anyone will come to ruffling any of the locals' feathers.

Edgefest takes place on Saturday, April 25 at its usual location, the Toyota Stadium in Frisco. Ticket presales start next Tuesday and go on sale to the public a week from today, Friday, February 20. Prices range from $39.99 to $67.50 and will be available at kdge.com.
