The Perot Museum has announced its first two major name touring shows: an animal version of the Body World series called Animal Inside Out and The World's Largest Dinosaurs, curated by the American Museum of Natural History.
Animal looks at life below the fascia, showing the innards of about 100 plastinate and capillary animal specimens. Opening Saturday, September 22, tickets for this in-depth examination of anatomy and physiology go on sale to Perot members on July 30 and to everyone else on August 26. The Perot is only the second U.S. stop for the tour, which is currently on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
Ticket buyers will reserve time slots for the exhibition -- a necessity since more than 450,000 folks attended Body Worlds, The Original Exhibition of Real Human Bodies when it rolled through Fair Park in the 2006-2007 programming series.
Details on The World's Largest Dinosaurs are limited; the show will open to the public on April 6, 2014, and feature everyone's favorite long-necked, long-tailed superstars, the sauropods. You'll see how the Brachiosaurus, Diplodocus, Apatosaurus and others tackled the planet back in the day, and how their ginormous size informed their function.
