Auteur Martin Scorsese's first foray into the third dimension comes in the form of an adaptation of Brian Selznick's illustrated children's book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret. With hearty homages to French filmmaker and father of special effects Georges Méliès to sweeping setpieces that justify the use of 3D unlike any other film of recent years, Hugo is already shaping up to be a Scorsese masterpiece that everyone is talking about...and one you probably won't want to miss. The one that will make you feel like a kid, whether you're 4 or 40
Man-boy Jason Segel and a few of his familiar-faced friends (I won't spoil the cameos for you), along with music written by Flight of the Conchords' Bret McKenzie and direction by FotC co-creator James Bobin, resurrect The Muppets in this self-aware, hilarious new take on Kermit & Co. The Muppets re-introduces Jim Henson's lovable felt puppet people to audiences and will likely introduce them for the first time to more than a few mini-audience members. Seriously, it's The Muppets! Who doesn't love The Muppets? I don't think I even have to bother with telling you to go see this. Anticipation-o-meter: 4 out of 5 Wocka Wocka Wocking Mahna Mahna Rainbow Connections
The one that adults may enjoy, but kids will definitely enjoy even more
Arthur Christmas is the latest holiday film to unwrap and put a new bow on the Santa Claus mythology. Old Saint Nick looks to his youngest son, Arthur, to help with a Christmas crisis of yule tide proportions with SWAT-like elves, gadgets, and more fun than you can fit into a fruit cake.
