You've caught him chewing on your Design Within Reach catalogs, so you realize that your dog has an appreciation for contemplative construction. And still, he sleeps in a lousy cage like a Dickensian criminal. Change that during the SPCA of Dallas' Designer Dog Home for the Holidays event at NorthPark Center.
Sitting and staying between Dillard's and Macy's from November 9 to the 25 will be a collection of 11 plush digs for dogs -- all of which are created by local businesses and organizations on behalf of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
We got a sneak peek at the houses, because, why wouldn't we? They're amazing. Some are modeled after old-timey fire stations, mid-century modern patio lounges or woodsy log cabins. All are phenomenal. They'll be raffled off, so purchase tickets for your favorite canine crib during the event and then keep your fingers crossed (all of that money goes back to the SPCA of Dallas).

"Old Dallas Firehouse #16" Designed by Graf Developments with supplies by Sherman Williams and Home Depot, this home is a perfect to scale replica of its firestation namesake, all the way down to the building's 28 frosted windows (14 of which light up).
"Bone Sweet Bone" was built by a father and son team at Bry Jo roofing and took a thoughtful approach to a country-style dwelling: they used flea-retardant cedar columns so its future inhabitant can rest peacefully.
This one is Frank Lloyd Wright inspired, with construction by USI Design and Remodeling. It's beautiful, but by the look in that dog's eyes, it also might be haunted?
"Japanese House" honors the contemporary architecture featured in Heinrich Engel's 1964 book of the same name. Built out of African Mahogany, plexiglass and polycarbonate roof panels, it's designed to let your pooch "great the rising sun in style." Downward dog, anyone?
It's a cabin for canines, made out of log siding boards and cut down 4X4 posts, with fun extras -- like a chimney. Your dog loves chimneys.
"Urban Digs" is an all-cedar, two-story getaway. So next time he goes on a staycation, (as all dogs must, what with the draining nature of their daily lives) he'll enjoy near-panoramic views. Also, the Plexiglas window is removable.
"Western Cool" might be a favorite; I like its simple nature. It looks like a place that would serve amazing breakfast tacos and also shelter your pet.
