It's been a while since we've thrown a big party. Sure, we have awesome Tweet Up Parties every month (don't miss tonight's mixer at House of Blues), but it's time for a big blowout, the kind your friends talk about for days or even weeks if they didn't leave the house much in high school. Grab your safari hat and hitch a ride with a designated driver because you're going to Brew at the Zoo. After the jump, read more about the first-ever Observer beer-ganza and find out where you can get tickets.

Not since Jan and Todd Wolfhouse defeated their German relatives in Beerfest has there been so much beer in one place. OK, that may not be a scientific fact, but we're pretty sure that having dozens of beers at Brew at the Zoo will set some kind of record. The party kicks off at 7:00 p.m. (6:30 for VIP guests) on Saturday, September 11 at the Zoo North area of the Dallas Zoo, just east of the entrance area.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a petting zoo, and the carousel will be running for those who want to feel like a kid again. Speaking of kids, leave those at home - with a babysitter of course - because this is strictly a 21 and up event, and plus who takes a kid to an event called Brew at the Zoo? The same people who take babies to bars, that's who.

Once you make your way to the Zoo North section, you can sample the dozens of beers, UV Vodka and food from Pizza by Marco and The Holy Grail, among others. We've also got a DJ spinning and live music from The Spazmatics and Rebirth Brass Band. Besides the beer and music, the main attraction will be the party animals.

The critters from the Wings of Wonder, Lemur Lookout and Tiger Habitat areas will all be partying with guests. Texas cats including ocelots, cougars and a bobcat will be roaming around their habitat as well. Our marketing staff has assured us that it won't smell like a circus train, so rest assured that you can enjoy your suds and food in the fresh air.

And where can one purchase tickets for Brew at the Zoo? On our Brew at the Zoo website, which is up and running right now. There you'll also find a list of FAQs and information on our sponsors.

Tickets are $30 for general admission, which includes food and beer samples, and $60 for VIP, which gets you into the tent for important people and guarantees you extra beer and food.

Your ticket to Brew at the Zoo also includes free admission to the Dallas Zoo from September 10 through September 16 (50 percent off admission through March 10, 2012). A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales benefits the Dallas Zoo. Get your tickets early because we're sure there won't be many left come September, and we'll see you at Lemur Lookout next month. We'll be the ones with the beer hats.

Visit our Brew at the Zoo website to purchase your tickets today, and check out our Facebook page for special offers.
