Drive Director Nicolas Winding Refn On Influences, Gosling Bromance and That Scorpion Jacket

I recently sat down with director Nicolas Winding Refn to talk about his new film Drive, starring Ryan Gosling as Hollywood stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night.

Refn is one of those filmmakers that, if you're a cinephile, you've likely heard of by now, with such films to his credits as Bronson, Vahalla Rising, and his Pusher trilogy -- which put the Danish director on the map at the ripe young age of 26. And if you're just a general movie lover, well expect to hear his name a lot more now. Especially after Drive picked up the "Best Director" award for Refn at the Cannes Film Festival where it premiered this year.

Aside from assembling a stellar cast comprised of Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman and a villainous Albert Brooks, the neo-noir dressed in '80s garb (thanks mostly to its bitchin' soundtrack) is quite unlike any heist/car chase flick you've ever seen. And it's quickly accelerating to the top of many a critic's "Best Of" lists, including my own.
