It took all of three plays - without pads, mind you - to see the full Dez Bryant package.

As last season officially melted into this season, the Dallas Cowboys held OTAs (Organized Team Activities) out at Valley Ranch. Their rookie receiver, as expected, dazzled. A burst of escape off the line of scrimmage. Sharp, yet subtle, breaks on routes. And hands - big, aggressive hands that attacked, and snared, the ball at its apex. Bryant has "it."

In other words, he's everything Roy Williams isn't.

Who knows? Maybe this is the fire that will spark Williams. He, too, caught everything thrown his way on Monday.

Cornerback Mike Jenkins' assessment of the two:

On Roy: "He came out on fire. He looked like a No. 1 receiver."

On Dez: "I agree with the pick. He's going to push Miles. He's going to push Roy."

Williams maintains it's going to take "a bad man" to take his starting job. Or, maybe just one who can produce more than 38 catches, 7 touchdowns and 8 drops.

Maybe someone named Dez Bryant.
