Just dialed into Josh & Elf on The Fan (or, as they're billing it this a.m., "Two Jews and the Flu") to see if there'd be any mention of this morning's news out of New York, where Josh Lewin's been named to the New York Mets' radio broadcast team. But, nope, nothing so far; Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle is coming off the bench first.
Lewin, unceremoniously ousted by the Texas Rangers during 2010 post-season play, starts immediately in New York, where he'll be heard alongside Howie Rose on Sports Radio 66 WFAN. Says Josh: "It's a thrill to be able to come back to my roots in New York and call games for the team I rooted for as a kid on the pre-eminent sports talk radio station in the country."
In related news out of Arlington: The Rangers' equipment truck departs the Ballpark in Arlington at 1 this afternoon for the team's spring training digs in Surprise, Arizona. Play ball.
