In case you missed it--and I know you did--the Dallas Stars' first-round flop is looking more embarrassing by the day. With Mavs-Spurs and the EDS Byron Nelson Classic in our faces this week it's difficult to think about the Stars. But what's happening to the team that beat them--the Colorado Avalanche--adds even more insight and insult to their disappointing playoffs. Against goalie Marty Turco, the Avs scored 5, 5, 4, 1 and 3 goals in the five games. In the second round against the Anaheim Ducks and a rookie goalie named Ilya Bryzgalov, Colorado has yet to score. Yep, that's zero goals in 120 minutes.

Morale to the story: Either Turco really sucks, or this Bryzgalov kid is the second coming of (insert name of Hall of Fame goalie I can't think of because I don't follow or like hockey). Now, I know your next question, and it's legit: Why are we still thinking about the Stars? Answer: Because we won't be tricked into thinking about them again next season. Even if they go 82-0 in the regular season, the Stars won't win back our trust, or our attention, until they prove they won't choke in the playoffs. --Richie Whitt
