We don't do this often, linking to non-local items of interest, but in this case, we're going to make the weekend exception. Why not? Don't cost ya nothin'. Besides, plenty of locals have kids, right? And plenty of locals dig Bob Dylan, dig? So, here's a discovery worth downloading: an entire album of "Bob Dylan" performing Dr. Seuss material -- including "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Cat in the Hat."
Of course, Dylan Hears a Who isn't Bobby Zimmerman -- at least, we're pretty sure it isn't -- but a damned authentic impersonation, down to the mid- to late 1960s instrumentation (Hammond organ, even) that turns familiar Dylan standards ("Like a Rolling Stone," "Ballad of a Thin Man") into kiddie classics you can actually play on the car stereo without wanting to drive the mini-van into a ditch. Or maybe you just like the Wiggles, in which case, as Dylan once sang, "Wiggle till you vomit fire." You'd best hurry. You know something like this doesn't stick around for long. --Robert Wilonsky
