Took long enough -- turns out, says Our Man Downtown Matt Pulle, "a flurry of votes" came in after 5 p.m., delaying the counting of votes. But, looks like you can get 90,000 or so folks to sign a petition calling for a referendum, but you can't make 'em vote...

Took long enough -- turns out, says Our Man Downtown Matt Pulle, "a flurry of votes" came in after 5 p.m., delaying the counting of votes. But, looks like you can get 90,000 or so folks to sign a petition calling for a referendum, but you can't make 'em vote. Dallas County elections officials now have 89 out of 400 precincts reporting in, or 35,043 votes so far, and the Vote No'ers are still way ahead. All told, the pro-toll road crowd can count 19,414 votes -- or 55.4 percent -- in favor of the high-speed Trinity River thoroughfare, while Angela Hunt's side has only 15,629 votes, or 44.6 percent of the vote. Here's how it looks in a precinct-by-precinct breakdown, courtesy the county. Memo to Schutze: Put down that bottle, now. --Robert Wilonsky
