A few weeks back we noted that id Software was likely going to debut Something Big at this year's QuakeCon, which just wrapped at the Hilton Anatole. Turns out, it wasn't just hype: id, the Mesquite-based makers of Quake and Doom and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, is looking to launch a new franchise -- this one titled Rage. Says here it's a:

... post-apocalyptic shooter [that] offers fast-paced gameplay, featuring the complexity of race track dynamics and tactics. The game also includes a monetary system denoting a way to invest winnings from races to improve your vehicles and avatar.
