Prince and fermented juice? Don't mind if we do. The Bishop Cider Co. is partnering with Hard Rock Cafe Dallas to present a weekly cinema series. Running every Friday in August, this series' theme is Musicians in Movies. This week, movie-goers will be treated to a free screening of Purple Rain and limited-run ciders at $6.50 a glass.

Birds are remarkable creatures, and not just because they are tasty when braised. Sure, that's a big part of it, but they're also intelligent, emotional and have even aided humans in recovery from PTSD. Flock together for the sake of our brothers-in-wings at Braindead Brewing, where nonprofit organization Window to the Wild Inc. will be on hand to educate and to raise funds for birds who can't be released into the wild — cause, you know, humans mess things up. Get to know the birds and grab a bite and a beer from the brewery while you're at it. This event is free to attend.

Get all the beer and all the bands for $29 at the House of Blues. Well not all the beer. Technically, you get five samples for $29, but that's still a good amount. Try samples from 16 of North Texas' finest breweries, including Community, Deep Ellum, Lakewood, Grapevine and Revolver, as 18 local bands rotate on four different stages. Slated acts include Crystal Yates, Dead Flowers, Northern National, Parallel Play and Sister.

Luck and Glazed Donut Works are combining forces yet again as they work to bring an end to as many diets as possible. Their weapons? Beer and doughnuts. If the historic popularity of this event is any indicator, Dallasites are just waiting for a reason to bring their Paleo regimens to a crushing, yeasty halt. The pairings this round include lemon pistachio with Revolver's Land Grab, chocolate peanut butter pretzel with Woodcreek Brewing Co.'s vanilla porter, fuzzy navel balls with Noble Rey Brewing Co.'s Bridesmaid Tears and strawberry banana with Franconia's Brewing Co.'s Belgian ale. Tickets are $18 and must be reserved in advance for one of the three seatings happening that day.
