The Wild Turkey

The Wild Turkey

Since 1978, The Wild Turkey has been the site of much gobbling - of food, that is -- in a rustic setting, reminiscent of a honky-tonk and sports bar combo.

  • Clubhouse

2250 Manana Drive Dallas, TX 75220-7100
972-869-9506 The Clubhouse, a strip club with plenty of strip-club neighbors, has chosen golf for its theme. Because the place is dark and has a predilection for motorcycles and heavy metal, it's hard to see how that theme is executed. Along with the main stage, the bar in the middle is fronted with a stage that accommodates nine dancers during the club's peak hours. The second floor holds another bar for VIP service. The dancers are all nude, so the bar is BYOB, and every Sunday the Clubhouse hosts an after-hours party from 4 a.m. until 8 a.m. Read more about Clubhouse >>

    The Cock & Bull

6330 Gaston Ave. Dallas, TX 75214
214-841-9111 One bar, one wall of booths and a few tables compose The Cock & Bull, one of the smallest pubs around town, but the inviting neighborhood atmosphere makes up for the lack of elbowroom. Old wood, red-painted walls and country paintings of its namesake cock and bull make the English pub come alive. It's known for the burgers, and the menu includes an artisan cheese plate with a seasonally rotated selection, black garlic quail and lamb loin, among other English-oriented choices. Other features include brunch Saturday and Sunday, daily happy hour specials and free Wi-Fi. Read more about The Cock & Bull >>

  • The Cockpit

    The Cockpit

9454 Marsh Lane Dallas, TX 75220

The Cockpit glows neon yellow from a lonely strip mall off Marsh Lane, drawing a middle-aged crowd with wood paneling and a bartender's promise to know everyone's name. The beer is cold, the liquor "bring your own" and the wine list offers a choice of red, white and pink. Preserving the bar's roots--pilots originally owned the bar when it opened in 1986--airplane models hang from the ceiling, reflecting from glass-framed pictures of planes covering the walls. On Sunday, the bartenders cook whatever they feel like and it's free to boot. Read more about The Cockpit >>

    The Common Table

2917 Fairmount St. Dallas, TX 75201-1455
214-880-7414 It’s a hophead's heaven at Uptown’s The Common Table, thanks to the bar and restaurant’s expertly curated craft beer menu. The bar is located in an old remodeled house on Fairmont, offering a cozy, wide open feel inside and a huge patio in the front where some of the area’s best bands play on Thursday nights. But really, it’s all about the beer. Rotator taps bring in local beers and exotic rarities, weekly. Read more about The Common Table >>

    Cool River Cafe

1045 Hidden Ridge Road Irving, TX 75038

Folks from the surrounding North MacArthur neighborhoods fill Cool River Cafe as well, drawn to its wide selection of beers and delicious food. • Copa

    525 S. Industrial Blvd. Dallas, TX 75207
214-741-4020 Copa looks like a Mexican restaurant without the tables…or the Mexican food. Serving lunch Monday through Saturday as well as a late-night menu, it offers such favorites as burgers, wings and fish baskets to Tejano music during the week and hip-hop on weekends. A club with Latin flair and a Top 40 spin, red-lit arches and brown-sponged walls cradle a dance floor with plenty of bar space under metallic neon palm trees. On Two-Dollar Tuesday, selections behind the bar and from the kitchen are on special, and three-dollar shots are always available. Read more about Copa >>

    Cork Wine Bar

3636 McKinney Ave. Dallas, TX 75204
214-780-0373 Located in the West Village, four doors from the corner of McKinney Avenue and Cityplace West, this tasting lounge puts a modern spin on the average wine bar. Cork has six different themed state-of-the-art tasting stations, all of which are categorized--some by region or grape, others by rarity. After purchasing a "Cork Card" (a pre-loaded ATM-ish card for wine purchases) patrons can swipe their cards, and experience a taste or glass of the wine. Tastes are one-ounce samples, and glasses are five-ounces; prices vary depending on the type of wine chosen, which means you can taste some of the rarest wines for just a couple bucks. Cork also provides wide variety in its retail selection, and a basic menu of appetizers consisting primarily of cheeses and tasty crackers. Oh, and its chic backroom can be rented out.
