http://www.jjbluesbar.com Occasionally strays into other genres, but J & J"s is still a slice of blues heaven. Because of the music? Yeah, sure. They bring in some pretty swell national and regional gee-tar slingers, along with jam night Sundays. Or because of the cheap drinks and free parking? Trust us, they know what side gets the butter; check out the phone number. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.jblacks.com This recently opened Henderson Avenue hot spot may look a lot like the original Austin location, but the designers of the Dallas branch of the "Feel Good Lounge" went with a more polished, less rock-and-roll feel that’s appropriately Dallas. The interior has the feel of a place to kick back, compatible with enjoying its top-shelf cocktails, like the sangria or the Hemingway, and chef de cuisine Bobby Weddle's casual grub. Customers can retire to either a leather couch inside or a plush banquette on the patio. They do so mostly for brunch, when the menu is long on traditional offerings -- eggs Benedict, migas, Bloody Mary. Fancy tacos, named by year, are also available. The "1993" taco includes scrambled eggs with sautéed portobello mushrooms, arugula, shallots and sun-dried tomatoes with goat cheese. The bar’s happy hour offers $1 off all drinks, 25 percent discounts on bottles of wine and half off select sharing plates, like pitas and hummus or the tasty fried macaroni-and-cheese balls. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001492142434 If pool is your game, head to JR Pockets, a billiards bar in Denton that is among the best in the metroplex. With professional-grade pool cues, clean, taught felt on its tables and a jukebox that won't quit, you would have to try hard not to have a good time at this loud and friendly bar. The atmosphere is a step back in time, where old cowhands and bluesmen are the joint's regulars, taking up space at the bar and lighting one cigarette after another in the bar's smoky interior. http://www.jgilligans.com One of Arlington's longstanding favorite watering holes is J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill. Located near the center of downtown Arlington, J. Gilligan's has been the home away from home for Arlington residents and University of Texas at Arlington students for over 30 years. The bar has a laid-back roadhouse vibe that is well suited to the country, blues and rock bands that regularly play on the beer-sign-festooned stage. And while they are friendly to strangers, a first time visit to J. Gilligan's will find one surrounded by regulars all there for the same reasons: a great beer selection and delicious no-frills cocktails. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.jrbentleys.com Walking into J.R. Bentley's, patrons will notice wooden walls lined with vintage Guinness signs, stained-glass windows with boat motifs and a menu full of imported beers -- all the trappings of a faux-English pub. But there's also a creak in the floor, which speaks volumes about the bar's history. Bentley's has been a popular hangout for Arlington residents and nearby University of Texas at Arlington students for more than 30 years. On any given night, Bentley's will see customers who have been frequenting the bar for decades mixed in with college kids ready for their first legal drink. The varying daily drink specials offer at least two options for under $3. Anything to help those college kids out. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.caven.com Located on Cedar Springs in the Oak Lawn area, this popular bar has been remodeled and expanded three times since its opening in 1980. J.R's boasts three full bars -- two downstairs and another upstairs on its usually bustling covered patio/balcony. The patio makes for a great place to watch the basic hustle and bustle of a Friday or Saturday night on Cedar Springs as folks visit other nearby clubs, bars and restaurants, but expect huge crowds upstairs during events like the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Pride Parade and Festival. There are happy hour specials every day of the week; check the bar's website for details. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.gilleyssaloon.com The newest edition to the Gilley's Complex is The Gilley's Jack Daniel's Saloon, part bar and grill, part music venue. Thanks to the small stage that sits in the corner of the saloon, now there's nowhere in the Gilley's Complex that is free of live music, unless you count the bathroom. The saloon serves up basic pub grub and a slightly exotic list of beers, which includes Harpoon IPA. But the most popular drinks on the menu are made with Jack Daniel's, of course. http://www.jacksporch.com Jack's Porch has been attempting to fill the void in Southlake for a proper sports bar since it opened in 2009, and it's doing so Southlake-style-flashy yet comfortable. One of the newest bars at Southlake Town Square, Jack's mixes the concepts of a neighborhood bar and ultra-lounge, with its rich, dark cherrywood bar, sleek furniture and modern art placed sparsely throughout. That mix also finds its way onto the drink menu, which is pretty lengthy in the martini section and minimal when it comes to beer. The seating has patrons shoulder-to-shoulder with each other-especially when a big game is playing on the four flatscreen televisions behind the bar. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.jaguarsgold.net Among the truck depots and warehouses along Manana Drive, you'll find the Jaguars club. The usual valet service is around back, and inside you'll find a large theater-style club hall with a main stage hugging the wall opposite the entrance and the bar, with five small stages dispersed throughout the seating area. Jaguar's leans toward the higher end of the spectrum as far as all-nude clubs go. Sure, it's BYOB, but there's a bathroom attendant and even a few flowers in the rooms. The roster of almost 150 dancers ensures enough variety for the regulars. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.jeffersonfreedomcafe.org Consider this the Fort Worth branch of the venerable Uncle Calvin"s Coffeehouse: family-friendly, largely acoustic and housed in a church. Shows happen on the third Saturday of every month. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.myspace.com/julyalleykats Located on Elm Street in the heart of the historic Deep Ellum arts and entertainment district, this dive bar, gallery space and full-on live music venue is a popular hangout with folks who live in the neighborhood, as well as the regulars who get tatted at Oliver Peck's Elm Street Tattoo next door. Don't be surprised to find a jovial, sometimes wisecracking bunch of smokers taking up spots on the small patio by the front door on Friday and Saturday nights. And make sure you fill your pockets with plenty of quarters, because inside you'll find one of the best working assortments of pinball machines in Dallas--great games like Jurassic Park, Playboy and The Simpsons. There's a spacious bar, a few booths and a row of tables near the front. In the very back is the stage and, to round things out in this popular joint, a jukebox and a few pool tables in between. Also, the patio's dog-friendly. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
