With its upstairs VIP area, bottle service, smoking-hot dancers and bass-heavy sound system, this ultra lounge is one of the hottest in Dallas.
The Wild Turkey

The Wild Turkey

Since 1978, The Wild Turkey has been the site of much gobbling - of food, that is -- in a rustic setting, reminiscent of a honky-tonk and sports bar combo.

    Red Rock Bar & Grill

    18110 Midway Dallas, TX 75287
972-733-3683 The cavernous space on the corner of Midway and Frankfurt has only recently changed its name to Red Rock. But long-time regulars will remember it by the name Sterlings. The Red Rock owners, though, have plans to do more than change the name: They want to inject the old neighborhood bar with new life -- starting with the beer menu. On a recent visit, the bartender was kind enough to educate a curious regular on the new selection of beers visible in a newly installed display cooler. Some things will remain the same, though. The huge stage that stands in the corner will still feature cover bands on the weekends, and the popular billiards tables will still draw locals looking for a game of pool. • The Red Room

    The Red Room

4950 Beltline .Road Dallas, TX 75254

An upscale sports bar and lounge in Addison, The Red Room adjoins Asian and Indian restaurant Masala Wok. The exterior is fairly standard, as it's located in a strip shopping plaza, but the interior is designed like an uber-modern living room, with contemporary minimalist décor, off-white and red plush seating, small framed prints on the wall and, as the name suggests, a lot of red accents. The bar and lounge host private parties and an array of weekly events that can be found on the bar's website. For those feeling snacky, the bar's menu has a food section with favorite appetizers such as creamed spinach dip, lamb kabob rolls and chicken or veggie spring rolls. Read more about The Red Room >>

2603 Routh St. Dallas, TX 75201
214-397-0300 This popular Uptown watering hole has made great efforts to set itself apart from its shinier neighbors, serving as the only Uptown bar to host sets from the area's top bands. To be safe, Renfield's has installed a sprawling beer garden away from all the noise, and even in the heat of the summer, the patio-a comfortable place to order from the bar's extensive menu of imported brews-is filled with young business types there for after-work drinks. The dark interior, which is set up like an old Irish pub, has wood-covered walls and vintage sconces. Read more about Renfield's Corner >>

  • Reno

    Reno's Chop Shop Saloon

210 Crowdus Road Dallas, TX 75226
214-744-1200 There's one bar in Deep Ellum that the bikers, greasers, metalheads and punks can all agree on: Reno's Chop Shop Saloon. The long, double-sided bar can accommodate even the busiest nights as graphic-T'd bartenders sling Pabst Blue Ribbon drafts and Jaeger Bombs in plastic cups with equal aplomb. Check out a live punk or metal show in the back room if you want to know why disposable cups rather than glassware is such a good idea. Read more about Reno's Chop Shop Saloon >>

  • Rick & Trey's Neighborhood Bar

1100 Dallas Drive Denton, TX 76205
940-381-2277 Two double-sized rum and Cokes cost just $5 on a Tuesday night at “RT's” in Denton, which has solidified itself as the go-to sports bar in Little D. There isn't a single shoe in the place – it's just a sea of flip-flops and cut-off shorts and ball caps, from which a roar of hoots, hollers and curse words come, depending on how the Rangers are playing. Every now and then you'll see a collared shirt and a nice watch walk through the door, being worn by one of the many UNT fraternity members who show up to Rick & Trey's throughout the week. Other than that, it's pretty much protocol to grab a cheap beer, seek out a hard-to-find empty table and wait till it's your turn to shout. Read more about Rick & Trey's Neighborhood Bar >>

  • Ringo

    Ringo's Pub

5865 Kincaid Road Plano, TX 75024-3647

Establishments in Legacy line up along well trafficked roads like Bishop or Lone Star…except for this corner pub, tucked away from all the hubbub. While it carries the same accoutrements as so many local British-Irish pubs, this one comes with a Texas twist. Good spot for those looking to hang out without the people watching. • Riprocks

    1211 W. Hickory St. Denton, TX 76201

Because this Fry Street area bar and grill is within walking distance of The University of North Texas -- and its dorms and frat-houses -- don't be surprised if the mostly college-age crowd at Riprocks' bars, booths, patio and arcade are wearing lots of Eagles green. Open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, Riprocks has become a popular before-, during- and after-class hangout since opening in 1991. It's known for munchies ranging from sandwiches, burgers and subs to tacos, nachos and quesadillas, which all go with its lower-than-low daily drink specials. Ask about "all day, everyday" offers like $2 pints of select beers or $2 double Long Island Iced Teas. Read more about Riprocks >>

  • Rob

    Rob's Billiards and Sports Bar

13930 Trinity Blvd. Euless, TX 76040

According to the bartender, the crowd at at Rob's Billiards and Sports Bar changes from night to night. "There's free pool for ladies on Tuesdays, and free pool for guys on Wednesdays," she says over Tuesday night's chatter. The popular Euless watering hole is generally packed every Tuesday -- not a free pool table in sight. The other half of the bar, however, remains empty, because it's used for Thursday's open mic night and Friday and Saturday's live music night, which also draw big crowds.
