http://www.blackfinndallas.com/arlington It's called an American Saloon, but with half of the establishment a family-friendly restaurant, it's more new-style pub than gritty saloon. BlackFinn's soft wood interior, square central bar and main room filled with booths and tables caters to a mixed crowd of young college types and older neighborhood regulars. With televisions and Americana nostalgia on every wall, it's a sports stop serving up burgers, pizzas, steaks and pastas with an American touch. Happy hour from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily features half-price drafts, calls and martinis and $6 appetizers. A corner stage sees live music Friday and Saturday nights. http://www.bucknloons.com Independently owned and run since 1999, Buck n' Loons is a straight-shootin', homestyle restaurant and bar with hunting lodge appeal. Stone walls and log cabin booths reside under the antler chandelier. It's a big meeting spot for school bands and teams drawn to Texas-hearty meals that are cooked from scratch, like chicken-fried steak and fried catfish. Taste of Arlington voted Loon's Juice (three types of margarita and tropical flavors) to be the best alcoholic beverage in town. In the casual atmosphere it's common to find the owners sitting next to patrons at the bar or around the tables in the dining room, conversing and endorsing their rule of thumb: "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first." Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.myspace.com/caveslounge There's nothing pretentious about it: Caves Lounge is comfortable, with a great jukebox and a huge back patio. It's a college hangout, just across the road from the University of Texas at Arlington. Inside, it feels like a weird vintage shop, covered in eclectic art and curtained in red velvet. Thursday nights are packed for karaoke, and a good mix of domestic and international beers are on various specials during the week. The television in the zebra-print fireplace broadcasts a cozy fire, and another over the bar houses the aquarium. In the back, picnic-style benches and lots of table space offer a good spot to share a Squatter, the lounge's version of the beer pitcher. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.clicks.com "Kick back, relax, we got this," reads the sign outside Clicks. It's not exactly the motto you'd expect from a billiard hall. After all, you spend most of your time playing pool standing up. But this Arlington neighborhood bar offers much more than just a few pool tables and cheap beer. For those not skilled with a pool cue, the wall is lined intermittently with video games and dart boards. If you do want to take a seat, you can order dinner from its menu, which consists mostly of pub grub that's great for soaking up Clicks' "Big Ass" 32-ounce beers. http://www.cowboysdancehall.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12&Itemid=18 Cowboys is a supermarket-sized country and Western bar, live music venue and honky-tonk, and it's designed to accommodate large crowds. Good thing, because it's located less than two miles south of Cowboys Stadium, The Ballpark in Arlington and Six Flags Over Texas. That means the place attracts many post-gamers and out-of-towners looking to experience a small slice of Texas. The bar comes complete with cowboys and cowgirls, boot scootin' and beer drinkin' and, naturally, a mechanical bull. There's a large stage in front of the huge dance floor located in the center of the club -- it's usually filled with folks two-stepping and kicking up their boots. And there are plenty of pool tables for wallflowers. Enormous lava lamps on the counter add a cool vibe to a few of the bars. More than half a dozen bars and beer stands are scattered throughout the venue. There's plenty of parking out front. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
For bikers, punks and metalheads, Diamond Jim's is the kick-ass live music venue where leather jackets and tattoos are king. A small stage in the dark and smoky space is the home of Rogue Radio, the house cover band, where Thursday night contestants take the stage with the band for "Rogue-okie" karaoke. Tons of tables and booths rim the mosh pit/dance floor and a balcony upstairs offers a spot to watch the action from above. There are pool tables and foosball; Tuesday nights feature the Platinum Poker Club; and for something different, the bar hosts free Latin dance lessons Sunday nights. http://www.foxandhound.com Arlington's Fox & Hound location has the competitive patron in mind -- at least that's what the room full of billiard tables, dart boards, shuffleboard planks and multiple flat-screen TVs suggest. This hole-in-the-wall bar is tucked into the corner of a North Arlington shopping center, which means you'll mix in with a lot of regulars from nearby neighborhoods, who are either there to watch the game or play a game. A glance upward as you pass through the front door reveals a stained glass ceiling -- a nice addition to Fox & Hound's Irish pub motif. Tuesday night's drink special offers all pints for $2. G Willikers Pub wraps itself around an island bar practically the size of the entire place. Dark and seedy but comfortable with low ceilings, the bar is mainly frequented by a neighborhood crowd for karaoke, featured every night of the week. Dark wood-paneled walls and a carpeted floor lend the feel of a trailer home more than a bar. Old-timers post up next to a pool table and video slots in the corner to watch the younger kids belt out a tune. The bar is packed with regulars, and its tables are often strung with balloons for a birthday party. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.greasemonkeyburgers.com Located next to the famous Arlington Music Hall, Grease Monkey is a hot-rod-themed bar and burger joint featuring dozens of flat-screens for its many sports fans and regulars. The bar’s large projector displays football games, while the roomy outdoor deck holds live music almost every night. With its many indoor picnic tables, Grease Monkey is a solid place to grab a beer, watch the game and shoot the shit. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
If you find generic bro-bars slightly depressing, Humperdink's may not be for you. Sports bars can be hit-or-miss, but chain sports bars inevitably seem to have a manufactured enthusiasm, as if they're all designed from a blueprint with blank areas that say "Install local sports team banner here." Of course, none of that matters after a few beers. And that's what sets Humperdink's apart--not only is it an all-purpose bar offering food, karaoke and big-screen televisions, but each location also boasts its own brewery, plus a small but well thought-out selection of other craft beers. In fact, the beer is good enough that you may want to get one of the 100-oz. "Beer Towers," a man-sized glass tube with a spigot at the bottom that requires a minimum of three people to order. The beer and the friends may be needed if you're going to brave the karaoke stage. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>

http://www.jgilligans.com One of Arlington's longstanding favorite watering holes is J. Gilligan's Bar & Grill. Located near the center of downtown Arlington, J. Gilligan's has been the home away from home for Arlington residents and University of Texas at Arlington students for over 30 years. The bar has a laid-back roadhouse vibe that is well suited to the country, blues and rock bands that regularly play on the beer-sign-festooned stage. And while they are friendly to strangers, a first time visit to J. Gilligan's will find one surrounded by regulars all there for the same reasons: a great beer selection and delicious no-frills cocktails. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.jrbentleys.com Walking into J.R. Bentley's, patrons will notice wooden walls lined with vintage Guinness signs, stained-glass windows with boat motifs and a menu full of imported beers -- all the trappings of a faux-English pub. But there's also a creak in the floor, which speaks volumes about the bar's history. Bentley's has been a popular hangout for Arlington residents and nearby University of Texas at Arlington students for more than 30 years. On any given night, Bentley's will see customers who have been frequenting the bar for decades mixed in with college kids ready for their first legal drink. The varying daily drink specials offer at least two options for under $3. Anything to help those college kids out. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.macsteak.com Mac's is more grill than bar, but the pub side of this American-style eatery draws a local crowd for pre-party weekend dinners or early nightcaps during the week. Since 1987, a black stone-top bar, ornate dark wooden shelving and a few tall round tables have afforded the neighborhood regulars a spot to catch the game with or without dinner. The dinner menu is chiefly American classics such as the filet, New York strip and prime rib, plus pastas and fresh seafood. The lunch menu offers up burgers and sandwiches, and Mac's serves brunch Sunday mornings. It's an early-bird bar, closing at 10 p.m. during the week and midnight on weekends. Locals enjoy cheap drinks and greasy eats in this neighborhood dive, tucked away in a shopping strip center. It's not anything flashy, just a good spot to catch the game or some live music. Thursday through Saturday bands play the corner stage; generally rock cover bands, with the occasional country touch. Domestic drafts are always two dollars, and menu items include cheese sticks, pizza, burgers and the always popular Bowl-O-Pasta. Open seven days a week, Monte Carlo's offers free pool; tables get particularly busy during happy hour. Bare bones as it may be, Monte's, as the regulars call it, is what a dive is meant to be: just a place to have a bit to drink and hang. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.sherlockspubco.com The mystery of how Sherlock's Pub managed to become so successful is easily solved in one visit. Located popular Arlington shopping center Lincoln Square, Sherlock's is a multifaceted venue. On the bar-and-grill side, the dark wood walls are covered with old leather-bound books, globes, and knickknacks, reminiscent of 221B Baker Street-sans the flatscreen TVs, of course. A second main space is the entertainment area, which serves as a concert venue and a game room. But the most exciting thing about Sherlock's Pub? The Monday night $2 you-call-it drink special. Is it the 19th century decor or the unbeatable drink prices that keep people coming back? Elementary, my dear Watson -- it's both. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
