http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/Dallas/Dining/Default.htm The name Rattlesnake Bar conjures images of rocking out with the members of Poison, but that's not quite the case here. One clue would be that it's located on the ground floor of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, one of the more expensive places to spend a night in town. On a recent visit, we found the décor to be far less rock and roll than decadent and classy. The wood-lined walls and vaulted ceilings of the bar room are scarcely lit by a few chandeliers that keep the crowded room a nice shade of amber. Outside on the patio, the pace is quite a bit slower: The lounge chairs that sit under twinkle-light-filled trees offer peace and privacy. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.renfieldscorner.com This popular Uptown watering hole has made great efforts to set itself apart from its shinier neighbors, serving as the only Uptown bar to host sets from the area's top bands. To be safe, Renfield's has installed a sprawling beer garden away from all the noise, and even in the heat of the summer, the patio-a comfortable place to order from the bar's extensive menu of imported brews-is filled with young business types there for after-work drinks. The dark interior, which is set up like an old Irish pub, has wood-covered walls and vintage sconces. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
Sisu Uptown Resort is one of the few Uptown aqua lounges that does not require a club membership. Open to the general public, Sisu's pool accommodates people looking to swim year round, and can easily shift from indoor club to outdoor party, depending on the season. A haven for Dallas' least modest bikini-wearing socialites, Sisu's multiple bars and DJ booth make the large lounge the perfect location for the dozens of year-round fashion shows, DJ spinoffs and raffle events it hosts. http://www.snookiesbar.com Snookie's Bar & Grill, a mini-chain that boasts two locations – one in Keller Springs and one on Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas – is a relaxed sports bar with a full kitchen that serves pub grub all day. A wide wooden oval-shaped bar juts from one corner to another, leaving space in the room for a few rows of booths. Multiple flatscreens hang high, just under the vaulted ceilings, and can be seen from any vantage point in the room, allowing patrons to keep tabs on multiple games at a time. The drink menu is very basic, the bar staff exceedingly friendly. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.socialhouseaddison.com Social House used to serve up burgers and fries to the denizens of Uptown, right off Cedar Springs. Now it's moved to Addison, to larger, grander digs. Multiple dining areas include a quiet dining room, an open bar room and sizeable patio: pretty much everything you need to meet your friends for a drink, party like a frat boy or find a private booth for hushed conversation. If you like burgers, Social House has a big one. As tall as a can of beer, the sandwich takes deliberate compression to pick up and eat. You might even have to cut it in half to avoid making a mess on that new button-down shirt you’re sporting. The rest of the menu looks like any elevated pub-grub docket. There are are Reubens and other sandwiches laden with meat, fish and chips and steaks, salads and pizzas. There are 73 items to choose from on what may be one of Addison's most ambitious menus. Straight in the heart of downtown Dallas is The Spread Eagle Saloon. Squeezed in between large buildings, the bar's Elm Street location attracts an array of people, including businessmen, construction workers and young couples. Two pool tables, a foosball table, dart boards and a coin-operated boxing machine provide patrons with entertainment during or after the several football or basketball games, which are always projected around the room and on the large screen near the bar. Step out front and have a seat at one of the four tables in the small roped-in area for an up-close view of the Dallas skyline. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.stateandallen.com One of the most friendly bars in uptown is State & Allen Lounge. The selling point of the lively hangout is its extensive wraparound patio, perfect for sipping fine wines and people-watching. One side of the bar features a bistro-style interior, with wall-to-wall wine and aged bourbon selections, while the other boasts several tables and flat-screens for game days. State & Allen Lounge manages to strike a balance between both casual hangout and upscale lounge, and attracts mostly young professionals and their amicable pets. http://www.caven.com The king (or queen?) of dance clubs, this hook-up-friendly outpost in Oak Lawn has the hottest beats and the hottest bodies. Questionable fashion choices abound (no one can really pull off vinyl short-shorts), but it's still the best environment for getting sweaty and heady while a DJ drops the needle. http://www.stoneleighhotel.com/restaurant-dallas/index.html In case you're wondering about the name, this historic watering hole used to be a pharmacy--called the Stoneleigh Pharmacy. It's as classy as you'd expect an Uptown bar to be, yet still manages a humble, welcoming, aw-shucks vibe. The parking lot may be full of luxury cars, but any place that sells $2 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz and Pearl Light all day and every day can't be too uptight. As far as food, queso verde is by far your best bet -- though the excellent smoked chicken nachos can make for a meal on their own. Drinks at the full bar are priced a bit lower than one might expect for the location -- including, of course, those aforementioned canned brewskis, along with $2.75 Lone Stars and a moderate selection of bottled imports and domestics that all fall under $5. Tinibar, located in a 100-year-old building adjacent to Allure, looks the same inside and out. The building looks like a historical landmark, and inside, the well-worn brick walls have eroded with years of deep bass shaking the foundation. Despite the DJ in the corner booth, Tinibar isn't really a dance club, though there is a small amount of space on the wooden floor for that. It feels more like a speakeasy with its low amber lights, discreet booths and a long wooden bar. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
Like J. Blacks and Beauty Bar before it, The Trophy Room is another Austin establishment replicated for Dallas drinkers -- complete with stage for live shows, antlered "trophies" mounted and hung on the walls, and, perhaps most important, the mechanical bull. The bucking machine is placed front-and-center on Trophy Room's front patio and has helped earn this new Uptown bar plenty of early buzz. And the building's orange-painted facade makes it easy to spot, while the brown and green walls and warm wood accents keep the hunting "theme" going. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.uptownbarandgrill.com If there’s a dive in Uptown, Uptown Bar & Grill is it. For nearly two decades, the bar has offered cheap drink specials and good burgers to the Uptown set. Neon beer lights cast a campy red hue over the thick tiled floor, on the outskirts of which sit tables where patrons order drinks and pub grub while watching karaoke, one of the bar’s biggest draws. Another big draw in the warmer months is Uptown Bar & Grill’s expansive patio, which offers a good vantage point for watching people or games, the latter of which flicker on outdoor flat-screen televisions. http://www.uptownpubdallas.com Beat-up old tables, an inviting large patio and very cool shuttered booths make this shabby, homey little dive bar a cozy home away from home. Good beer selection, decent pub fare. Overall, not a bad place to bring a couple of friends for a laid back session of catch-up. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.victorytavern.com A staple of Victory Park, Victory Tavern is the moderate- to high-priced bar and grill that fills up on game and concert nights and empties out when the downtown entertainment district does. The bar, a huge rectangle in the middle of room, is covered in warm cherry wood, as is the ceiling and the walls. The bartender, dressed in a shirt and tie, offers a drink and points to the handful of bar taps on his side of the counter. A recent night offered Blue Moon, Rahr and a few other domestics. A few flatscreen televisions on the back wall show sports, which, on some nights, are played live just a few steps away at the American Airlines Center. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.vino100dallas.com This wine bar might come across as classy, but with 100 bottles at $25 or less, it's an affordable and welcoming wine bar. Sure, there are selections well over the $25 mark on the Captain's Wall, but the overall feel is one absent of pretense. That's what co-owner Clint Brookshire and company have been going for since this location opened in 2005. Anyone, according to Brookshire, should be able to enter Vino 100 and feel comfortable immediately. To that end, each selection is described simply and evaluated for the guest according to the wine's taste and body and there's a suggested food pairing on the Vino 100 Wine Barometer. Members in the Vino 100 wine club receive a discount not just on the wine but also chef Mark McDaniel's Mediterranean-themed tapas menu. Read more about this Dallas bar or club >>
http://www.zaguanbakery.com A zaguán is the mosaic-tiled entryway of Venezuelan homes, and this bakery and cafe is an entryway to some new tastes. Like traditional Venezuelan cachapas--a thick, sweet-corn crepe filled with shredded beef, Serrano ham or several other fillings, and arepas overflowing with melted Venezuelan cheese. You can make a meal out of cachapas and arepas alone, choosing from nearly a dozen fillings. The pretty, brightly colored cafe also offers a wide selection of Venezuelan and more continental pastries, Latin American sodas and fresh tropical fruit juice.
