A Docudrama about the Courage of Women who overcome the dangerous lifestyle of Sex Trafficking. We are basing this story on Teresa Richenberger’s book Sold to the Highest Bidder, the Transformation of an Exotic Dancer. Teresa, a 17 year old teenage runaway, had no where to turn when she saw a classified saying make $1000 a week stripping. She thought, she can do this even though she had no Identification Card. The owner did not seem to mind, she had no ID. The owner hid her, when they were raided by police. A few weeks later, he comes to her and says it is time to pay him back. He told her, “see that man Jim, make him happy.” She cried and did what she had to do.
The owner convinced her to let him fix her as a high class call girl. She went with it for about 10 years making lots of money. Then she felt hallow as a woman. She overdosed and ended up in a Clinic. When she came to, the Doctor asked her why she was trying to kill herself. She said, she was not, only over did it. They prayed over her. She saw the love in their heart and thought - they have something I do not have.
A Professor from Stephen F. Austin drove past the high class Houston Strip Club. Jesus Christ told him to stop, but he kept driving to his meeting. After his meeting, it was 11am and Teresa got on stage. He drove by again and the urge to stop was still there. He went in and put 5 $100 dollar bills in G-String. He said to come talk to him after her number. She did. Michael said, “Jesus told me to come and get you today.” She laughed, but wanted out. Something in his voice convinced her to go. He put her through Christian counseling and it took 2 years before she gave herself to Christ. She broke free.
Now, she is convinced that she is suppose to help others get out of the sex industry. She purchased a 130 bed dilapidated nursing home for $160,000 and is converting it to Rehab’s Retreat. A place to rehabilitate former sex workers and abused women. It is set to open in June of this year. I am telling her story.
