When it comes to women and comedy, all anyone seems to talk about is how Amy Schumer is doing. Yes, she’s got a critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated sketch show and a hit movie directed by Judd Apatow that both give women a higher status role in the comedy medium, but she’s not the only female comedian who’s killing it. Nikki Glaser has not only become a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian with a huge fanbase but she’s also got her own Comedy Central show that’s breaking new ground for women in television. The first season of her comedy talk series Not Safe with Nikki Glaser achieved viral fame with the Aural Sex series in which she and a fellow comedian feed lines to a pair of professional porn stars mid coitus. She also gave a much needed rant on any college that’s ever tried to cover up student sexual assault cases (we’re looking at you, Baylor). Her act explores the same themes about women and sex that dare to go in places that make men or more prudish women squirmier than a worm on a motel hot plate. See her live during a special engagement at the Addison Improv (4980 Beltline Road, Addison) at 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15. Tickets are $25 to $35 and a two-drink minimum is required. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or online at improvaddison.com.
